Howdy, I just got back from a "weekend vacation" with the wife. She wanted to go to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I said great. Well, to make a long story short, I've never been to such a liberal, tree hugg'n,suburu driv'n down in my life. And I've been to Madison WS/and Missoula MT. So that says something anyway. I felt like a Nun in a whorehouse. Me and the wife had a great trip.....but I hope I never have to go back there again. How many of you have been in that situation before?? I was dying to have brought my NRA hat, at least I'd have then felt like I was "expressing myself" like the rest of the wackos....... I'm from North Dakota, and am currently living in Amarillo TX so That place was a slap in the face to say the least if your a conservative........what do yall think, been their???

One of the guys at work took it upon
himself to be the "coordinator" of the
    latest news.The whole dept
of Engineering retirees was able to be
be placed on an email list, just ask this
fellow and you get all the latest news, events,
    dinners and such.
Well for the last two weeks the crew of retirees
have been dropping like flies, granted these are the older
people 80's/90's but it aint too far off!
I guess "Live life to the fullest " isn't
    just some old saying!

I **ALWAYS** pack an NRA hat, just for situations like this - had to go to Chicago recently, fer instance!

Always wear one when I have to go into Bahston, also - usually the one with a picture of a handgun which says "YES - It's my RIGHT!" Always get some hostile looks from the liberal pinheads, but none of them have the stones to say anything.

Hey Redches, welcome to Texas. I live in Lubbock and sometimes I go to the River to do some quail and mule deer hunting. Haven't been up there for a few years, so many people found my little area and began camping where all the good hunting spots was. Crowded but free, Texas has more deer than anybody but if you want a lease in that area be ready to scream. But there are several dream deer in that area. Also good areas for pheasent and geese.Gun shows average 1 every 6-8 weeks and they have the Academy store there. So lots to do in Amarillo for the sportsman. I know I am rambling(been a long day) I guess I'm trying to say Welcome, both to this board and Texas... Dandy

Hey Dandy, thanks for the welcome. Yeh....I the leases are NUTS in prices. 1200 bucks for a deer lease???? I better be able to kill 1200 "bucks" LOL. Where I'm from we just amble on over to the neighbors and say "I saw a nice buck over on the 40 and then the neighbor says go ahead and go after him" and thats what it costs. What a change!!! oh well, got my Montana deer tag this year, so I'm gonna go kill a BIGun, and see the family. Can't Wait. I've actually had some great Dove hunts up here in Amarillo though,,,That is a BLAST....... talk to ya later.

Santa Fe is an OK place to visit, not unlike any other board walk. Of Course the people that live there come from California and New York and are not New Mexicans at all. I just forget the politics and eat!

Take a weend trip to Boulder CO. (or the peoples republic of Boulder) guarantee it will make Sante Fe look like a GOP convention.
Had some family in Lorenzo, always enjoyed cutting cross the Tejas panhandle.

in2b8u, you stole my thunder as I was reading and scrolling down this thread Boulder CO, came to mind and was going to post stating Boulder is the most liberal place I have ever visited. Strolling around Boulder you will come into contact with someone representing every cult known to exist to man.

I just wish They'd all move away, Where they could all sit around together living in harmony and talk about socialism, vegetarianism, the effects of SUV'S on nature, how bad capitalism is,and what a threat winchester rifles are on society. And stay there.
