My computer crapped the other day, so I am on the wifes laptop, and she told me not to screw it up!!!!!!, so before I do I thought I had better get a new laptop. She wants me to get a chrome book, I don't like the idea, I would rather have a real computer. Any advice on the chrome book thingy??? any help will be appreciated, I am about as computer literate as Joe............. I can turn mine on and off by myself though.

We have used chrome books some and I pretty much agree with you in that I don't really consider them a "real" computer. I'd say get a tablet, Kindle, or get a real name-brand laptop.

What did your old computer do? It is perhaps fixable unless it is too old to bother.

I use an iPad. Haven't turned my laptop on in over a month. It's great to be able to take it with me wherever I go, especially Dr. visits.

the chrome book is great...if everything you want to do with it is on the internet. its literally an internet machine and little more(you can get/buy apps to do a bit more, but thats its focus).

just went black, won't power up, with or without ac cord. can't even get any light to light up. at first the power swith would light up but not come on, now nothing. It is over 10 years old, my daughter used it in college, guess it is about time for new one.

If it is that old, then you are right it is time for a replacement. However, most likely it is just the ATX Power supply has gone out. As long as there are no bulged or leaking capacitors then you should be able to get it back up and running for ~$45 or so. However, if your computer has a Bestech power supply in it then assume the motherboard is ruined because they almost always take the board out when P/S blows.
