an auction ended sun morning for a 440 desert eagle that seemed too good and too vague to be true. there has been considerable chat about it in other forums. the winner was stoney 1954. i would love to hear if i missed out on the deal of a lifetime or somthing else.

    I'm not following ya... The .440 corbon is a great round, the desert eagle is a great gun. I'd say this combo should bring $850 up in good shape.
    Give us more details and maybe we could be more specific...

    the auction was for a new markx1x with a 6 inch barrel plus a 10 inch 440 barrel. also included was new extra grips, new leapold scope with rings. again all new. he got it for 900. the listing was vague and raised a lot of red flags. i chickened out, as did others, and i am wondering what i missed on, a bargain or a scam.
    some of the oddities:
    seller was paying for shipping
    first listing for seller
    listing was very vague(it did not even mention the gun)i was not sure what was included in the auction
    no photo of gun or other items
    no reserve or starting price
    method of payment was to escrow
    he had fired the gun but was not including any mags


    this guy may have been legit but he scared me and others off with the very unusual listing.

    With what you described, I wouldn't have bid on it either. However, if it was a real listing (not a scam) then it would have well been worth the money.
