Interesting. I think I still like the AR-7 a bit better due to the fact everything goes into the stock. But this has some interesting features to it.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

    Thus my "interesting features" addendum.

I've had a couple of the TD models, but this one looks like it might be a better one to rough carry through the woods.

I think it'd be better with some iron sights.

Unless you have an actual space requirement for a significantly weakened barrel/receiver combination, you are better off with a standard rifle.

The cool factor for a parachute carbine is in the stratosphere, but for actual shooting and carrying, give me a standard M1 carbine.

This is why when I grew up I got rid of the Armalite .22.

As far as the AR7 goes you might as well have a single shot .22 takedown. It would be faster to shoot than clearing all the jambs.

I shot the he** outta mine. I do not remember it ever jamming. Not once. YVMD.

    I loved mine. Just saying.

I guess you were the lucky one Bravo...

I've had just about every maker of AR-7 including the original Armalite.

All, I mean ALL jammed; a lot; most of the time. I currently have a Henry version that is still NIB so I can't tell you about it, but the others were jam-o-matics with Charter Arms being the worst. I don't think I was ever able to get through a single magazine without a jam on it. Some were quite bad that took a while to clear. The only .22 that I have ever had that jammed worse than that one was an old 187A my dad used to have when I was growing up.
That is a shame because I loved the idea and used to rough camp a lot and the way it should have worked and floated was quite cool and would have been great. Though I probably won't "need" those types of guns anymore due to the fact I don't rough it anymore. However, I still have an affinity for take down guns like the Marlin 70PSS (papoose), the Ruger 10-22TD, Springfield M6 O/U, and I guess even the old lever and pumps used to take down, at least in half.
The little Chippia (sp) seems to be about the only other one that is still a rough use little compact gun reasonably priced enough to beat around.
