    I wear nitrile gloves when I clean a gun, & I turn on a fan. Hoppe's No 9, & most other solvents & finishes we use are carcinogen, mutagenic, & toxic. The chemicals in them can be inhaled or absorbed through the skin.

    That stuff just flat stinks. Can't stand the smell. I am a Bore Tech Eliminator guy. Very little odor and it works wonderfully well.

    I ran my keyboard through the dishwasher. All the keys fell off. I couldn't remember where/how they went. Couldn't type,couldn't do a search for help. All I could remember was that little song about the alphabets. You know, A,B,C,D,,,,,. That didn't work either. All I could type was; hbilhbwe0g34*)&(*(&ER^DRF^E%W%$^*^*^$QW%DJHJH<VXCOY*%.
    It was horrible. I had bad dreams. I don't want to talk about it anymore.

    Joe, I did the same with my computer tower, and it would not work when it came out of the washer. Anyone know why it didn't work? Not enough soap maybe? Too short of a dry cycle? I am at a loss.

    Years ago we had a small group of gunsmiths along with their wives and girlfriends who gathered about once a month for a social get together for a BBQ, picnic, supper, etc. This one time, in particular, the guys were all outside on a nice afternoon discussing, of all things, guns and cleaning. Several admitted to wanting their wives or girlfriends to use just the tiniest of touches of Hoppes #9 behind their ears, much like perfume. It has that distinctive but slightly cloying odor.

    My personal taste runs towards citrus and vanilla...
