    Nice photos but the one in the middle gets it with my .22.

    The only reason I end up shooting one or two a year is the huge flocks of them that take over the yard and crap all over everything.

    Yep first one is a red-bellied woodpecker. They have a red Mohican and a light red belly most times to light to even see

    It's the European Starling (imported way back) that's the buzzard. Really tough on other native birds and should be dispatched. Unlike the larger native Common Grackle (large black bird) the starling reflects different colors during the various seasons.

    I saw one of these Pileated Woodpeckers in our backyard last week. These woodpeckers are huge and make some really big holes in trees.

    Those flocks sound more like starlings than blackbirds. and they can be um, just a little messy. I have never seen a flock of blackbirds larger than about 200 and those were yellow headed blackbirds.
