    I only use my rifle for deer hunting....257 Weatherby is perfect....40-400 yds , too much drop in a 308....never should build a 308 for bolt...308 was designed for semi auto because of the shorter cartridge...30-06, and I may be interested....30-06 can be loaded many ways...308???....

    Too much drop in .308? It's nearly identical to that of 30.06 out to 450 yards. I've never heard anyone complain about drop at that range, nor it's ability to kill at that range and beyond. Plus you have the added benefit of longer bbl life over the 257wby (but what doesn't?).
