Hello Ya'll
Yesterday in ask the experts, I posted a question about the new 16 inch barrel on the springfield M1A. I had two or three good replies on the rifle. Which leads me to ask " WHAT IS THE PERFECT URBAN COMBAT RIFLE?" I lean toward something in 308 cailber, Removable mag. of course. I've never owned a garand, so I cannot speak for them.So guy's what is the perfect urband combat rifle? Thankyou Beltfed

I would say something in .223 just because in an urban environment you are not going to be taking very long shots, could carr more ammo,
The shorter the better for inside so weapon is capabale of free movement Open sights only no scope and a select fire swith semi, three round and full auto.

If force ain't work'n... Your not use'n nough of it.
I know the spelling is bad but guess what I DON'T CARE

SKS-D with a 75rd drum, RPK bipod, etc, etc....it's been keepin' my urban combat zone quiet for a few years now[;)] I would say an M4 or a UMP depending on the ranges in question. For a lot of close urban combat situations a shotgun would be optimal as well.

Pssst...similar to Cooper inventing a need for his Scout Rifle, need for an urban combat rifle is an invention of Petersen Publishing staffers getting $$$, Chivas and Cohibas from Springfield Armory and Bushmaster.

Watch the news clips of what the Israelis are carrying. They've been at it for some years now. They swapped their two ton Galils and Uzis
    for M16s.

No need for a rifle....just use a few of these on every building:

    AN-M14 TH3 incendiary hand grenade

    M61 Fragmentation Hand Grenade
    or
    M67 Fragmentation Hand Grenade

Bambi, I could have guessed that you would require a 10mm.[:D]
What would the difference be between an urban combat rifle and a combat rifle? That said I would think that a Thompson model 27 45 cal would be great for close range and sweeping buildings long as you had a sharpshooter with a scoped bolt gun looking out for you. Really though it seems like any combat rifle would do if you just changed the ammo to suit the range and penetration requirements so you are not shooting through 4 walls and killing innocent breakfast eaters at the table.

Something short. I'm a big fan of the Bushmaster Bullpup, but it has a few drawbacks (namely, iron sights that are darn near useless).

I'd go for an SKS or Krinkov. Something with a bigger bullet than .223 and not as hefty as .308.

Ruger PC-4 with Ghost Rings in 40cal.

Urban Defense you don't want over penetration and killing little old ladies in their rocking chairs.

I use a PC-9(9mm)with Ghost Rings along with my P-89.

A selective fire AK47. Unlike a very popular .223 rifle, the AK doesn't need a forward assist to help feeding and jamming problems. Also, the 123 grain .30 caliber bullet does more damage than a 55 grain .22 bullet. It's simple, reliable, and very cost efficient.

Sako M95 7.62x39mm folding-stock carbine with a Beamshot 1000 Ultra (w/tactical daytime diode) LAM underbarrel, vertical foregrip, and a Kobra reflex collimator sight. If the recoil becomes an issue, add a recoil buffer and Chinese Type-56 cut muzzle brake.

The M95 is basically the Finnish proving that the AK action still has plenty of room for expansion, and plenty of life left in it.

    m92psotr.jpg

And yes, I know that M95 above isn't the one I just described. The one I described, while entirely possible, exists only in my dreams as far as I know [:D]

Not really a urban weapon in this configuration. Really nice F.A. with the 14" bbl and the 100 round beta. Sales picture,, gone but not forgotten.

Still,, think I'd like an HK entry gun.

Select Fire has an interesting combination. This is EXACTLY what the police carry in many foreign countries. The 12 GA is short bareled and is also the weapon of choice for security at homes and banks. No one pays attention to "car alarms",, but Ka-Khunk when chambering a round is a universal language.

Thinking about it,,, I'd say this would be at the top or near the top as the combination to have. Where I am,, they are experts. Military FN/FAL folders.

Saw an UZI kept in the file cabinet drawer at the Immigration office. Fits great and a good place to store when on a break.

AK bull-pup for something with a bit more "punch":

I gotta throw some love out to Ruger for their Mini-30. Excellent off hand shooter for medium ranges. And Scoped it's still accurate enough at 300yards. It has never jammed on me once. I love my thirty!!!

M4, select fire. But the AK bullpup and AUG look real handy also. I'll take a full-tilt AK anyday too.

It would have to be a 12 ga. semi-auto indoors, anything outside within 100yds would be put down pretty easy with an SKS

Not being in the militry, I would go with a Model 94 trapper in 44 mag, or 45LC.
Don't have access to Militry guns so go with what I can.

Bushmaster .223 and a number of very long clips. May go with a holodot or tritium sights for night use.

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I

boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind. Games played with the
ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no
character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of

Urban SHTF scenario, 75rd drum + a couple 30's in the AK. Spray and pray my way out of here. Though I think I might shed a tear at leaving the AR behind. Maybe could use it as a trade item.
