I know how you feel. Times are tough, I'm almost at the end of my checks. The job offers I have are, well, insulting money-wise considering my background. But looks like I'll just have to stand up straight and take one of them until something better comes along to stay afloat. You do what you have to do.

Being layed off would have scared hell out of me at one time but no more. November third I will have been with the same company 44 years and never been layed off. I would welcome a lay off now!

    Rosie,

I'm with you. We have a small RIF coming in September and I'm praying. I'm eligible for three pensions plus my 401 and the severance in a lay-off would buy me that new Corvette I've always wanted. Just what an old man needs, a rod with a stiff suspension.

Clouder, I'm sure a stiff suspension is the best you could wish for! [8D] [:D] [;)] [^]

    maggiethecat,

You're AF reserves right? Does the AF have an Active Reserve guys at your unit? I starting to loose terms here but I recall past Army Reserve Units had full time guys that worked in the office or repair shop during the week as there full time job, and then only had to put on a uniform for drill. Is this a possibilty with the AF?

Any part time work available in the area? Do you have a local gun shop that you are recognized at? Maybe try asking them if they could use some extra help.

A good friend of mine was in the same situation got a job as a painter at the age of 32 with not much previous experience.
