Any of you other Illinois GB'er hit the Collector's show in St. Charles. A buddy called me last minute and we headed in for a couple of hours. I have never seen so many Lugers and Broomhandles in one place. Great show...

Next we headed to G.A.T. Guns in Dundee...What a place, anyone else been there ?

The CADA show can be counted on to consistently produce high-quality
collector weapons. Most northern Illinois shows have been declining in quality,
but this show seems to have survived a rather tenuous
political climate. It's no Las Vegas-style extravaganza, but some of
the big-name dealers regularly obtain tables.
If you're into military surplus, assault stuff and beef jerky,
    you'll probably be disappointed.
Needless to say, credit card machines abound.

I missed that show this year due to some back trouble. Been going to G.A.T.'s for years. Its the largest gun shop in Illinois. Great people and a great place. Every Feb. they have a "factory shoot out". All the reps are there and you can shoot just about everything they sell. You just have to pay for the ammo.Perhaps some time in the future we could meet up there for a day on their range.

I haven't been yet, but will go sometime soon. I've heard alot of negatives about the CADA show. Mostly that the dealers there will really lowball you on anything you bring in and ask to appraise or sell. Some guys that come into our shop like to joke about bringing Lugers over there that they know are worth x amount & have documentation to that extent, just to see what some of those dealers will offer them.

GAT is a good shop but way over priced IMHO. I do go up there every so often to check them out. Also u got to stop by R Guns, the next major exit off of 90 going N. West, & check out his DSA guns.

Saturday, I was shooting down at the Rock, on the way back we stopped in Plainfield & visited the Gun Shop & Mega Sports. Mega Sports, has way more guns than GAT. You should really check them out. They have every model of every handgun in production. They had a case of every Wilson 1911 offered, a case of STI's, they had every Ruger, the whole Weatherby, Savage, Sprinfield lines, & etc. The place is overwhelming! If you want to see a gun in person that you thought you'd never see go check this place out. Also then must've had 300+ rental guns. I get the feeling they buy used handguns & immediately put them in their rental case. Only problem, it was next to impossible to see what used long guns they had forsale.

I've been to GAT. Love to drool over the guns there, but I've yet to buy one--takes a lot of restraint though. GAT's a good place to find certain accessories and reloading stuff.

Sounds like a good idea Ron...Maybe this winter we could get a bunch of GBer's together for a some time on the range there. That would be great....

    Hope your back get better....

We got a manufacturer shoot coming up at my shop in Des Plaines at the end of September. You guys are all welcome to come out. I'll probably be running around with my head cut off but stop by and say hello. I'll see if I can't take care of the range fees for ya. Normally like $5 or so.

    Here's the details:

    September 27th & 28th, 9am to 5pm
    Maxon Shooter Supplies
    1226 Rand Rd
    Des Plaines, IL 60016-3403
    (847) 298-4867

Heck, If you want, I work Sunday's, come over & say hi. If you want to shoot, I'll take care of your range fee. Ask for Dan.

Ps. I'm the tall skinny one.
