Yugo SKS question

This one was asked on the Experts forum a while back, but never
completely answered, now I'm curious about it myself:

How do you remove the grenade launcher from a Yugo SKS?

Specifics, if you please. Not just "punch the pin", how many? Where? Which way?

Not just "Unscrew it", but also what direction, how much force, and what tools work best.

I've looked at these myself. I wonder what is your reason in wanting to remove it? I'll agree that it is not pretty to look at, but if I remember right the only way to remove it was a hacksaw, or some other cutting device. And for the price of one these, who really cares what it looks like?

charlie15 - thanks for the link, but that deals with the sight removal. Kind of glosses over the laucher removal.

    ANYONE know?!

If you are talking about the piece on the end there is one drift pin you need to knock out then it screws off to the left might need to really convince it it wants to come off try spraying it down with PB Blaster or some penetarating oil and let it sit over night before you screw it off

If force ain't work'n... Your not use'n nough of it.
I know the spelling is bad but guess what I DON'T CARE

The one pin is near the bottom at the back can drift it out to either side

BINGO! There we go! Thanks. And yes, it's going to take some convincing, pin came right out but that mother doesn't want to budge.

    Thanks.

Yeah, it's fitted on there hot, so you have to heat it to remove it. Then, you have to find a way to protect your muzzle crown, either some screw fitting or saw off and re-crown.
