Broke my Ruger today

I was shooting my Super Blackhawk today, I shot six rounds reloaded and it wouldn't cock. I figured out it you held the barrel up in the air, it would cock just fine and fire. Hold it horizontally and it would not cock. Something came loose in there and Im not sure what, I tore it down as far as I dared and couldn't see the problem.
I took it down to the gun shop and there going to send it in for repair. Damm I just got a bunch of shells all loaded up, for plinking too![:(!][:(!][:(!]

Reloading is relaxing. On bad weather days I sit and reload for hours.

Just picked up 150 lbs of shot and 2K of wads the other day.

Anybody need an empty 12lb can of 700X to make a lamp outta or sometin?

Used to reload a few shot shells when I was a kid with one of those Lee handloaders. Never tried reloading them with a full fledged machine.

Pa did you check your base pin to make sure it had not worked forward? if it works forward maybe 1/4" or so it will let the rear of the cyl. drop when you hold it level and really bind things up

Yes I checked that, it wasn't that. Something definatly came apart inside.

I'll bet it is your firing pin that has broken it two. They stay foreward without retracting under spring tension after firing. The upward hold allows it to fall back into position and fire the next round.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Sounds like the hand spring was broke or jammed.

Hey Pa when you get it fixed lets use all know what the problem was [:D]

I have had this problem on several revolvers, Colt, S&W, and Ruger at various times when they are shot a lot. If it is what I think it is it is a very easy fix. I learned my lesson when I took a S&W 686 in to a Gun Smith, and he fixed it right in front of me. Then he charged me $15 for his time. That was the last time that ever happened.[;)]
