Its already partially out. The state couldn't require that it be removed because of NAFTA, so the individual gas makers have been phasing it out as their contracts with their MTBE suppliers expire.

Trust me guys I agree! Bill O'Reiley on his Radio show today went on the same rant (guess he did a road trip through OR. & CA.) his best synopsis was Oregon is getting taxed to death, and then he went on with CA's woes. Then he go's on the gas issue with CA. on and on and on. [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]

Thats what AAA is saying here too. The thing that gets me is the gas prices are starting to look like the stock market tickers Gas +.18 then down -.03 then up +.06.

dano That is some of what the dealers are saying to, But our gas has to have an additive (MTBE) that turned out to be a big flop for clean air. It is being phased out. But like our Gov. Gumby and his power contracts. MTBE is going the same way. We have only a few (to my under standing) refineries in CA that can put MTBE into our gas.

FrancF, my brother-in-law lives in California and he said that it cost $600.00 per year to register your car per year and they want ot raise it to $1800.00 per year. Is this so? It costs us $36.00 per year.

$1.68 here in Milwaukee. But they are saying it's because of the blackout... I agree with others that say it's because of the Harley thing... and people are trying to make more money...

I felt lucky to fill up this week at $1.62 because the average is $1.76-78. Mom & Dad are refusing to do any unnecessary driving. I heard somebody on the news say it was going to get worse.

$1.79 for the cheapest in my part of KY. Nothing but a dam* rip off. Told the ol lady that if it gets much higher, I was going to start riding one of the horses. I figure if I can get a bunch of us together to ride through town at the same time we will give the city some manure to sweep up. What I want to know is where is all the "alternative fuel" that they talked about after the 1970s gas shortages?
