I got this E-mail yesterday and don't remember the fundamentals of Sabatier. The stars and elephant used to represent the grade of the knife. I know all Sabatier knives have a full tang, I'm not sure if they all have bolsters. Personally I wouldn't own a French knife without a heavy bolster. But anyway can you answer his questions? I looked up the steak knives and found a box of four, $200. $100. off $99. box of six $149. I thought by now they would make a cheaper version for Harriet Homeowner, but I guess not. I am curious also about the grade markings. Also what is ROWCO, I never heard of this.

RugerNiner, I saw the post on the K A BAR knife and noticed that you mentioned the name SABATIER. I have a set of these knives which I got in an auction "box lot". There are steak knives, paring, boneing, two very large knives with 10" blades and a few others which I have no idea of the names. Are these good knives? They have been sitting in a kitchen drawer for 5 or 6 years. They have SABATIER ROWCO and the word INOX stamped on the bldes along with 4 stars and an elephant. Some of the handles have 3 rivets while others have none. If they are good knives I just might start to use them...or rather have my girlfriend use them! I keep clear of the kitchen as much as possible. Thank you for any help.

Do they ever sell like seconds or defects ? I use a variety of knives betwix taxidermy and I do my own deer processsing too. I would like to try out Cutco products, right now I use primarily Dexter-Russell and I like them alot.

I noticed in one of your pics of the Birthday party what appeared to be a propane/Natural gas heater. If thats what it was would you mind telling me how you like it?Ive been trying to find info from someone who has one with no luck.I know they dont reguire ventilation, and I think they will put out heat when the power is off,but the blower just wont work.We need a back up form of heat for our house to go along with the fireplace. The fireplace wont begin to heat the whole house,I was thinking of putting one in the other end of the basement and one in the back part of the house.I also was considering at least one for the cabin if they will come that far back in the sticks to fill the tank.Ive checked on the price of propane and as of now its the cheapest type heat other than wood.I can rent the huge tank for $100.00 bucks a yr.Are you happy with this type heat?

    Hello Pa,
Got a question for you. In 1957 the Marine Corps issued me a WWII Kay-Bar knife which I still have and still use once in a while. At about the same time I "liberated" a Marine Corps bolo which seemed to be unattched to any one at the time. I picked it up because it looked kool and was heavy as lead. I still have it also and would like to have some information on it if you have any. The left side of the blade is marked U.S.M.C. over CHATILLON, N.Y. The back of the scabbard is marked U.S.M.C. over BOYT over 42. I remember you saying that CutCo had bought out Kay-Bar and I was wondering if you might know what happened to Chatillon. Where they taken over by someone or did they just go out of business?
    Thank you, Scout

Hey Pa. On the way home from IN I stoped by Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Picked up a KA-BAR. I got the one stamped US ARMY. It was cheaper there then any place I had looked. I am going to display it with my WWII guns.
I also picked up a Buck knife for Shootinbuddy. He has been takeing care of my animals while we were gone so I wanted to show my thanks. It was a fixed blade with rubber handel and a plastic sheath that it snaps into. I wraped it using the SC Market bulitin for wraping paper and duct tape. When I gave it to him he was realy excited and cut himself. Maybe next time I will just get him the salt and pepper shakers.

was given a old kabar hunting knife and it has some light pitting on blade. Is there anyway to remove the pitting but not hurt the blade? Like I say its light and really doesn't distact any from the knife. otherwise is a really fine knife.

I am not going to resort to calling you names, as you have attacked me and Black Roses in another forum, what is the matter, dont you have the Fortitude to do it in here,. .

I see you have the same followers in the other place that you did here. I bet you sure feel good about that..

If you want to call us names, be man enough to do it where we can see it, I think you are dispicable, and low down,

And As I once told you, you dont know me or mine, an have no Idea what I am about.

I am really sorry that I spent 21 years of my life serving this country, so people like you can spout your crap...

I dont make threats, but I do not wish to ever see mine or Blackroses name mentioned by you. and I am man enough to put that in print here..for everyone to read...

Does Ka-Bar make a folding knife with plastic or rubber handle that is MADE IN THE USA??
I left my Buck knife that I use for field dressing, with a gut pile in the woods. I need to replace it, and was considering a Ka-Bar, but notice they arent made in the states. I was looking for something like the "mule", but made right here. Any suggestions???

???Will Kabar be producing the new ASEK knife which will be issued to Army avaitors in the near future???

Apparently the ASEK will replace the old survival knife, which has been around since World War II. The older knife had problems with its leather grips that loosened with age and the sharpening stone that broke easily. Also, the old blade did not hold an edge well.

The ASEK can cut through an aircrafts Plexiglas windows and saw through its aluminum skin. A special separate blade can slash away seat belts with ease. In conjunction with its multifunction sheath, this cutting-edge tool can also be used as a hammer, a screwdriver and a precision-edge marker. the ASEK comes with a crushed diamond disk for precision sharpening.

Apparently two of the eight knife manufactures produced a sample that met all the requirements.

My chili is never exactly the same twice, but one day I had a bunch of fresh mushrooms handy and quartered them in my chili. I use lots of pepper but much to my surprise this batch tasted hot without burning after. I credited the mushrooms and tried it again with success. Is it my imagination or did I stumble on something here? I also use a teaspoon of ground coffee which may have some effect.

Sorry to hear you can't make the show. Are you still coming up for whatever was going on at McQuade? Mom's restaraunt is less than ten minutes from there. If your coming up on saturday I'll buy breakfast (providing my paycheck cashes on friday). Let me know. It's the type of place I'm sure mabooger will go nutz over, most women do.

    PA,

I was appalled when I read my email this morning. (Did I say appalled?) That was porno that you sent me, imagine sending porno to a man who almost became a priest, but they threw me out when they learned that I was Protestant.

I had to let it play about ten times just to make certain that I wasn't missing something. I even had Mrs njretcop watch it, as she is more holy than I am and she didn't see anything religious in it either.

Whatever you do DON'T ever......................take me off your email list, hahahahahaha
