MIke, your right it was an fugly color, but that was for the exterior. We got this for the baseboards, the wife and I are gonna repaint them(sometime[:p])

We got the exterior a better color after adding some umber? tint to it.

By the way I called the guy about the van, he said call him Monday night and he will give me a time and an address then?

Strange guy - will call you Monday night and let you know.

I have bought some nice guns at garage and estate sales. I always ask if they have any guns they would sell and generally they don't, but sometimes they do. I went to an estate sale last Saturday in a very nice neighborhood. They had 26 guns, mostly military rifles. There was a 1917, a Krag, a 03-A3, two M-1s, a M-1a, several shotguns and a model 75 Winchester target rifle. I ended up with the model 75.
Once I picked up a High Standard Double Nine Natchez model 22 revolver at a garage sale. I love garage sales.

We had a garage sale two weeks ago but didn't put any gun stuff out except for a doggy percussion double barrel 20 gauge which went for $80. That gun kept reminding me of the bad trade I made 35 years ago.
At that time I was hot into muzzle loaders and I traded an almost mint 96 Mauser pistol for it. What a dummy!

Got a Ruger 10/22 at a garage sale for 20 bucks-they said id jammed every round. gave it a thorough cleaning and it works perfectly (was packed with residue/goo, otherwise looks like new). also got a beautiful Randall knife, complete with sheath and whetstone for 10 bucks once. I think my most valuable find was a signed, dated, numbered and titled Earl Biss print. paid 8 bucks for it, appraised for 2300.

I went to a yard sale about 2-3 yrs ago. I always have a bunch of business cards with a rubber stamp "I Buy Guns" on the back. I passed some around and one lady told me she had an old army style gun that she would like to sell. I didn't want to act too interested so I told her to call me that week and I'd come over and look at it.

Well, she waited 5 days, but, did finally call. I asked what it was and got something like "Oh, its a skinny gun, but heavy and the name on it is ACE. I was thinking some old non-descript piece worth peanuts. But, having learned that an I sometimes know more than others I told her I'd like to come over and look at it.

It was a Colt ACE in 22 LR, in the BOX and in 100% condition. I doubt if it was ever fired. I asked her what she would be willing to take and she very apprensively "asked" $25.00. I told her $25 would be considered stealing and would she take $200...the pistol is in my vault as I write...still unfired. Box is original, but, in a shambles with instructions. Belonged to her dead husband, no kids, she was selling her home to go into assisted living. I get lucky evey now and again.[;)]
