Need help with parts.

I've got a 1974 1000cc AMF manuf Harly XLCH aka an Old Iron Head. Brakes are tender and I need a new master cylinder, but, due to its' age am having one "Helk" of a time finding parts.

Do any of ya'll know of a source for new parts for old bikes? My buddy, the real wrencher, has exhausted most every source and the bike has just been sitting for 7 months while I waste time going from one dealer to another.

Appreciate any help.

Greeker

I would go with aftermarket disc breaks. But you could try Kerstings cycle in North Judson IN. Jim Kersting has been selling Harleys since most dealers were in diapers. If he dont have it I doubt it was ever made.

V-Twin will have the parts! Send me the info on the bike and what you need and I will run to the shop on Tuesday to look it up. I will send you the parts number so you can go to a shop close by to order them. I will also send you the suggested retail as well as dealer cost.[;)] The shop that I help out at some times is where all sporsters go to die![:D] If for some reason V-Twin does not have them then there is a shop in Daytona FL called Black Gold that should have them. They specialize in take off parts. If I cannot find the parts in the V-Twin book I will e-mail you the number of Black Gold.

If you haven't found your parts yet, check with Harbor Vintage in Vermont. Do a search under Harbor Vintage, that'll get you there!!

Fog Hollow or canyon run will have what you need and usually have better prices than the other mail order parts houses. both are in st. louis MO.

what else do you need i may still have some ironhead parts in my stash.

There is a national hot line, (just like in the auto salvage business) for motorcycles. you can find anything you want. just find one cycle salvage place that is on the line, and they will find you what ever you need.

    Hey Guys

Some new info on this old iron head. Jimmy, my wrencher buddy, informs that the drum brakes were removed a long time ago and discs put on and the parts were "jury rigged" at best. He's looked into some variation on factory parts and may have or will be able to find some parts numbers that he moght be able to use.

When/If he finds them, I'll be in touch.

    ThanX to all
