researching Stevens 520

I was wondering about the value of my recent acquisition and I found several completed auctions for parts guns / not sure if it fires that brought almost as much as I paid for mine.
I also found
Stevens 520 Counterfeit Trench Gun that started at $500 and brought $655
genuine bayonet/heat shield adapter that brought $705!!
current listing starting at $2500 for a genuine trench gun.
My best guess on why the adapter alone brought so much is that it will be added to a civilian gun to create a fake WWII weapon.

I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

I like the way they take down, very cool. Almost as good as a M97.
Good solid blued steel with nice machining and beautiful wood.
I don't know if it was the hole, for the locking shoulder,in the top of the receiver. That let in dirt into the action. Or something else, but they didn't have a good rep for durability. As Mike noted.
I have seen a bunch over the years. Because of the hole, and the square back receiver. You can spot them from a mile away. Hope you did't get in to it, to deep Henry. If it isn't one of the authentic Trench guns. Not likely to be a hot seller.
