Took the Sako to the range today

I tried out some of my new reloads today. I went down to my wifes Uncles range , I shot these off off his bench with just some old pillows. Id like to see what this gun will do on a good rest.
Sako L579 .308 Caliber with Shillen Barrel. These were shot at 50 yards. I think Ill go with the 42 grains of 4064, but both loads shot pretty good. Im sure the gun can shoot better than I can.

Pa- Ya got good taste. Didn't know you had a "Socko".A few years ago I built an '06 on an AV action with a McGowen tapered octagon bbl with intregal sight ramp. Fagen AAA wood and steel classic buttplate. Five shots, one hole. Love it-Bob

That's good shooting for "Church" folk[;)], but I know Sako's shoot better than that, is the stock loose or touching the barrel?

Will Shillen, barrel and Action if you sent them one? I have a Savage 110 (long) action that I would like to chamber 300 win or 30-338 or would that be practical?

Yep, they will. Check the website, it'll give you a ballpark cost. I'm sending that new CZ Mauser action to them next month to get a heavy barrel installed (chambered for 6mm of course[;)]). Figure on 500-600 bucks

Joey- Love those Chech Mausers. Does your action use the CZ rings and have that cool flip-up rear aperature rear sight?Bob

Thanks KJ I was going to send it back to savage But after seeing how many bechrest guys are using the (Shillen & lilja) barrels I thought I would ask. So few actions. and too many dream projects.

Hangfire- I just bought the CZ action only, its a virgin receiver that hasn't ever been barreled.

FrancF- Yep, they're worth the money. When this 6mm gets finished in a few months I'm betting "Church" attendance is going to drop sharply[:D]

pabooger: heres something to try for a gunrest:
find a new "car jack" (newer model cars), the one shaped like an "x" with a bolt through it. mount it to a base, put a knob on the side....finni! only gives you up-down adjustment. place a protective pad on top also.[;)]
