Cleaning guns

Cleaning a used Glock 42 before I put it out and I've got a ton of different chemicals here to use. I get free samples and I try to stay on top of the latest and greatest but I still find myself picking up the old Hoppe's no9. It's been around forever and I'm sure if there's a test I have at least trace amounts in my blood but it works as well as anything I know. If I have heavy copper deposits I will use something stronger but for everyday handgun cleaning I haven't found anything to beat it. I take great comfort that some things remain the same. Must be an old man thing.[:)][:)]

Just about what I do. Except for my AK. I still clean it that way but I only clean it about once every 4th or 5th time out (sometimes even longer between cleaning). When I clean it it comes out solid black for a little while.
When they are unloaded first it cuts down on the "Shot himself while cleaning his gun" reports. Also makes it much easier to run the brush and patch through.
very good point james.
2 brush
3 hopps patch
4 several dry patches
5 rem oil on patch
6 clean and oil the rest of the rifle.
2. walk away
3. come back in 24hrs
4. insert bore guide and patch out blue liquid that used to be copper
5. run wet montana extreme patch
6. if anything on patch, go back to step 1.
