What do we think or believe is the most aforadable and the most reliable semi auto pistal. I am saying one and the same. Yes there are those that are very very realiable but they also cost. There are those that are very afordable but not so reliable. If you were to combine the two what would it be?

CZ-75 or CZ-85 are among the best in both price and reliability. You made no mention of any particular caliber.

I inherited a llama 1911 style 45,I couldn't sell it for $250 so I kept it, it has never jambed on me,but it's not my first choise for carry.
cheap and reliable but if I have to carry a "cheap" gun it would be a revolver.

mark: I did not want to bring caliber into the discussion. But, I would say 9mm, or 10mm or 45acp.

I can only take your emphasis on reliability (rather than accuracy, concealability, simplicity, etc.) to mean that the pistol would be used for defensive purpose. "What is the most affordable and reliable semi-auto pistol?" is not the same question as "What is the most reliable semi-auto pistol?", which it really should be; if my life would depend on the difference, I would not in the least concern myself with the first question. This is not to say that the more $$$ a gun costs, the more reliable it is; it is only to say that cost should not have anything to do with it.

Glock, but, affordable might be subjective to ones income thus making a cz or eaa or makarov ones choice or on the other end of the spectrum the sig or hk or a 1911 custom. Glock sets in the middle and performs with the best.

Makarov, have to say it, even if I don't own one.

Those I own include Beretta 92FS, EAA Witness, Glock21, Glock 19, SWD M11/9 (reliable, but not practical), Browning HP, HS2000, and a Rock River 1911 clone. I'd trust any of them as a primary sidearm. For a back-up, a good double action revolver is my choice. Taurus revolver, my choice, just 'cause I use to like S&W long ago. I have a couple of the Taurus .357's and a Rossi, I'd probably trust the Rossi in a pinch.

Even though many have had problems with them, I have a Pro-Ord Type 97 that has never failed, but it's not your typical handgun. Still, if cut down to two, the Pro-Ord would be one I would keep.

I have owned two Makarovs, should never have sold them. Great little guns. I would like another, if I find one for the right price.

Certainly Ruger on this one, I've shot several and owned 3, still have one and all have performed flawlessly. Not the prettiest or the most accurate, but by far the most affordable and reliable in my experience.

I would say Ruger semi auto handguns are as reliable as just about anything sold.

As far as affordable I see Ruger is also offereing a $40.00 dollar rebate right now on all their P series handguns to only make an already affordable gun even more affordable.

CZs are pretty cheap and very reliable. I haven't shot any Ruger autos, so I can't vouch for their quality. As for Glocks, I guess they're okay if ugly, ugly, and more ugly is your cup of tea.

CZ, time proven design, good manufacturing, and ultra reliable even when compared to pistols twice (or more) their price. I would have to say the little Rusian or German Makarov is a close second though.

It looks like I will be getting a CZ. The question now is in what calibur? 45acp, 10mm or 9mm. Let me know what you think.

I'd buy a 9 since I like the higher capacity and +P+ loadings. But everyone one else is gonna say 45, and they're probably right so go with them[Even though the 40 is really cool if you can afford the ammo]-Bob[8D]

I'm not sure CZ makes a 10mm, but EAA makes a "CZ clone" in 10mm, which is the closest thing you can still buy to a Bren Ten. Frankly, I think you'd be much better off with a .45 ACP, and therefore would recommend the CZ in .45 ACP.

I have never had a hiccup with my old Makarov and its been fired over 10,000 times. My Glock is doing good, the only problem I've had is with the 13 rd mags, they're NFML and tended to feed poorly when I got them. I adjusted the feed lips a little and haven't had a problem since. With the FML mags I've had no problems as well. I haven't had a problem with my P-90 either. The Witness/CZ-75 pistols are very, very reliable as well.

    Love them Beavers
