how come some automatic trannys, you can be going in reverse, throw it into drive, and it wont just jerk and stop, but it will start going forward once you give it gas, as though it needed to catch something. And then some autos, you go from reverse to drive, while its still moving backwards somewhat, and the thing will just stop and jerk?

the clutches and or bands in the tranny are slipping. the one that dosent grab has a worn transmission and the other will if you keep doing that. in other words its not a good thing to do.

Our van has been doing that for as long as I know, probably due to BlackieBooger.. he always puts it in drive before he stops.. [:(!]
