The REAL First Thanksgiving

Yes, I know you all grew up hearing about Pilgrims, the Mayflower, and all that. HOWEVER- the FIRST Thanksgiving was not held in New England, and did not involve Pilgrims. It WAS held at Berkley Plantation, on the banks of the James River in Virginia- on Dec 4, 1619, one year and 17 days before the Pilgrims landed. Berkely was also the home of two US Presidents, the site of distilling of the first Bourbon, and the site where the bugle call "Taps" was created. Unfortunately, the history books were written by Yankees. [:p] and best wishes to all of y'all for a safe and happy Thanksgiving from a Virginia native.
