Repeal the NFA Petition: Why You Should Sign It
Posted on January 29, 2017 by firearmsdotblog
We've all decided to not sign a petition that we agreed with at one time or another. We don't want the spam, potential phone calls or, if you're really paranoid, to be put on a list. This is mostly reasonable rationale. Occasionally, a petition can imply much more than the stated cause.
This brings me to the petition circulating on social media titled "Repeal the NFA". https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-nfa With our new President and Congress it's imperative to send a message voicing our opposition to many of the gun laws we disagree with. Not doing so can send another message. A message that the majority of gun owners and firearms enthusiasts don't want to change these laws.
This petition has been plugged by many publications, pages and content providers, but, is gathering little support. At the time of this post, it still needs roughly 96,000 signatures. This is sending a message that may affect more than select fire weapons and AOWs. This is the type of message that may have congressmen questioning support for The Hearing Protection Act.
The HPA is aimed at removing suppressors from the NFA. It has been gaining steam, but, is still a position held by enthusiasts in the fringe of a larger conglomerate of gun owners. Personally, I have no interest in owning a suppressor. (personal decision, not bashing) However, I don't feel the government should be charging a $200 tax and expecting someone to wait unreasonable amounts of time to obtain one. So, I write letters and sign petitions. That's how I voice my discontent with the regulatory system.
This is why you should sign this petition.(https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/repeal-nfa) Whether you feel full-auto should be legal or not, it is important to send the message that people are disgruntled with the status quo. That it is time to take a look at possible mistakes have been made. And, that it may be time to make some changes.

all those Executive Orders that Obama made with the stroke of a pen. see how quickly they were annulled or even reversed the first week Trump got in office.
you don't want your gun rights flim-flammed around like that do you? major laws like that have, and should have, obstacles preventing add/change/deletion on the whim of the public, certain elected officials, or anyone for that matter.
Yes, repeal the NFA, the GCA, and everything else that flies in the face of the 2nd Amendment. but do it right. let the petition be a petition for a hearing and due process, not to change that law because a mere 100,000 people want to- you don't want that.
and why you shouldn't sign it?

Yes, introduce it to congress, and do it right. This EO BS needs to cease.

Yep, this has nothing to do with any EO, its just asking for the number of signatures required to get a response from the White house.
