Reminds me of looking through old copies of American Rifleman, and seeing that ad for trapdoor Springfields for $1.50.[8D]

As a kid in the '60's, I was able to quote the price on most of the products advertised in the magazine.......

In 1949, many of the bigger items would have taken an entire week's pay. 75 cents an hour salary didn't go far.

About that same time you could buy a P-51 for $5000, but a DC-3 was $75,000

My dad has a copy of advertizements for aircraft and aircraft parts from the late 40's. Fighter planes were cheep, there was really nothing that they were good for. Cargo planes were very expensive as you could retrofit a military bird and start a airline. A big C-54 was almost $200,000, but you could buy a P-38 for $7000. Older fightes like a F4F would only be $2500, no one would ever want anything like that anyways

If you figure out a way to go back, better bring some silver certificates from years prior to your arrival date. Todays money couldn't get you a pack of gum.
