An Indian Tribe Casino...hows that for irony.

"For Colt's Native American suitors, it's not just business; it's history, interest and commitment, their attorney said. 'We have gone to great lengths to get our hands on Colts," he said. "Just ask General Custer.'

    Heh.

I'd say Colts were carried by many of the warriors under these Confederate Battle Flags of the Cherokee and Choctaw Indians.

I would love to see Native American Indians buy Colt or help with their resurrection. They are proud people and would do well with colt if managed right. Just my opinion. Oakie

You have to read nearly the entire article before you finally get to the key point of the purchase:

If it's an advantage in winning back U.S. government military supply contracts lost in recent years, the tribe has that, too, thanks to federal programs for Native American businesses, Mr. Ryce said.

A high profit not-for-profit Indian casino/hotel owner buying a failing firearm manufacturer.

I bet that makes a good tax write-off.

    And look at the possibilities....

If the plant is moved onto an Indian reservation, and they open a store there.......could they tell the batf to kiss off????

AR15's at $600, 1911's at $400.......place your money down and walk out the door...just like 1967.[8D][8D][8D]

Maybe folks will be able to pull the handle on a slot machine and win an AR or SAA. It would give a whole new meaning to the term one-ARMED bandit!

Sorry, but all federal laws still apply, though not state laws. A gun dealer on an Indian Reservation would still need a Type 01 FFL and run buyers through the background check, but the buyers would not have to pay state sales taxes.

Frankly, if this were actually viable, some tribe would have started selling guns as far back as 1969.

Used to be a law against selling guns to Indians- so if the Indians buy their own gun company, no one will be selling the guns to the Indians- I suppose Winchester will be next.

Yep, it's about come full circle now. The indians selling tobacco, whiskey, and now maybe guns to the white man. I love it!! Now throw in a couple ship loads of ebola blankets, and they'll be all set.
