Grandson had a very close call!

Their father has a lot of wood working tools and he makes hand made ink pens with different wooded barrels. One of the tools is a band saw.

Well he and his middle brother decided they wanted to see what the inside of a golf ball looked like, and they decided the best way to find out was to saw it in half.

They didn't bother to ask their father, they just took the ball and started sawing it on the band saw.

It slipped, and now he has 6 stitches in his thumb. I reminded my son how I kept all of the power boxes locked off on my machines when they were young, and kept all of my power tools locked up. I told him it was because I enjoyed unlocking my tools when I wanted to use them, it was because I knew I couldn't trust any of them out of my sight.

It's one nasty looking cut, and it's hurting him like heck, but I guess he learned an important lesson.

Thank you God for not letting him loose a finger!

Glad he's ok for the most part. Use a pvc cutter its easier, golf balls can have interestin intrals.

All he had to do was ask either me or his father. He knows he's not allowed to use the power tools without adult supervision. He's beginning to think he's grown and doesn't have to ask.

For some reason, God takes care of stupidity. I'm living proof of that. I'm surprise I made it this far.

Kinda stinks that you have to lock out the garage but it is a cool idea. I know when I have a kid they will pay me back for what I put my parents thru. I will remember this to save me a hospital bill or two!

You have to admire the kid's natural curiousity, but it only takes a second.

Live and learn. Both the child and the parent. We've had a few such "experiments" ourselves. Glad the young 'un is alright....
