...About 6-8(?) mayor's met a couple of week's ago in VA...to discuss NEW gun restrictions...NYC mayor was one in attendance.

I fired off an em to one of my Senators, well both...here's the reply I just recieved, from Senator Cornyn. Hey, it only takes a few min., to contact YOUR reps...and let them know how you feel, don't take the 2nd for granted.

Take the time to contact your reps, to give them some ammo in the fight against these gun grabbers.[;)]

Reply to my EM To Senator Cornyn:

quote:Thank you for contacting me about federal firearms laws. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter.

It is essential to safeguard the law-abiding citizen's right to own and use firearms designed for legitimate purposes such as hunting, target shooting, collecting, and self protection. Restricting this right runs counter to the intent of our Founding Fathers, who expressly guaranteed that citizens would retain the right to keep and bear arms.

As a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General, I have firsthand knowledge of crime-fighting policies that work, and I believe that citizens' Second Amendment rights should not be restricted because of the actions of criminals. Rather, we must respect the rights of law-abiding citizens and focus our attention on the source of violent crime: criminals who use firearms to commit crimes. I believe that strictly enforcing the law and meting out longer sentences for career criminals and those who use firearms when committing crimes will reduce crime much more effectively than gun or equipment bans.

I appreciate the opportunity to represent Texans in the United States Senate, and you may be certain that I will continue working with my colleagues to uphold our Second Amendment rights. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator

It's good that he wants to preserve our second amendment rights, but I would feel better about him if he didn't start his response with a basic misunderstanding of the Constitution. The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting, target shooting, collecting, and self protection.

It amazes me how many Senators and Representatives have evidently never read, much less understand the Constitution of the United States of America.

That was a nice response. When I wrote the Oregon congressmen I got a reply that was quite the opposite. David Wu does not support your right to private firearm ownership and Ron Weiden is close behind. So count your blessings.

Glad we don't live in New York City or New Jersey. Very restrictive.

...my em to him, did, mentioned those things. If I had a copy of my em. I'd thrown it up too, but didn't keep a "sent" copy...[;)]

    ...just to clarify. My mistake...[;)]

The limp-wristed liberal Seattle mayor was one of the few who attended that meeting, out of the many who were invited. He came back from the meeting all revved up with plans for reducing firearms-related crime in Seattle. His plan??? Restrict gun ownership and gun variety in Seattle. Outlaw those dreaded "assault weapons."

Since there is a state law in Washington that prevents any governmental agency from passing gun laws more restrictive than the state laws, hizz nibbs the Mayor can't just outlaw guns in Seattle. So his plan is to lobby the Governor and the Legislature to pass these more restrictive gun laws state-wide. When questioned about his plan he said, "I made a promise to the other mayors at the meeting that I'd work toward this goal."

He promised the mayor of New York that he'd work toward violating the 2nd Amendment rights of the citizens of Washington State??? He oughta be horsewhipped! [:(!][:(!]
