Flathead lake Montana???

Going to be making a run from Missoula to Eureka on Tuesday 5/23, and will be going along flathead lake. Every time that I've been that way I've always gone up the west side of the lake. Wondering if going up the east side is any better, other than different than the west side?

There are fewer towns and less traffic on the east side. IIRC it's only a two lane all the way whereas on the west side there's lots of room to pass.
