Mineral Spirits as fuel?

Anyone know if Mineral Spirits will burn in a car?

Walymart sells it at $1.94 a gallon and gas is $2.05 a gallon.

Is it possible to run an engine on it?

Nope, it won't work for your car. Mineral spirts is less volatle than Kerosene, diesel fuel, or home heating oil (heating oil and diesel fuel are the same thing except for the road tax and coloring).

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Tailgunner Heating oil can be used in a diesel end. But you need to add a little oil to it. It does not have any lubricating propertys to it. It used to be years ago that truck drives would mix it with diesel fuel to keep it from gelling in the winter.

Look on the side of the can. If it syas "Stoddard Solvent" or "Ligroin" or just "Naphtha", then sure, it will burn in your car. Mix it with at least 1:1 with normal gas, and it wouldn't hurt to put in something like STP gas treatment.

The California motor fuel tax for gasoline is curently 18 cents per gallon. This puts us in the middle of the pack as far as gasoline taxes are concerned (the average in the 50 states is around 19 to 20 cents per gallon). Diesel fuel has an additional tax of 5 cents per gallon added for reasons that I can't even recall now, but truckers were far from pleased!

Got a boss in Californistan that has some land and a few trees he calls an orchard. He get's diesel at a discout for 'farm purposes' and burns it in his 2003 Silverado Diesel. Says it's justified becuase he drives the truck on the farm.

nitrous ag diesel that i burn in my tractors and combine does not have state and fed road tax added to the price and is also dyed red and road diesel is clear and if you get caught with red fuel in your pickup tank..well put it this way you could buy a heck of a lot of road fuel for what the fine will be when mr highway patrol pumps out some of that cheap red stuff out of a tank that is not suppost to have it in. first offence here is a $1000.00 fine.

cowdoc: Did you leave a zero off of your fine amount? Here in Washington it is a $10,000.00 fine if caught with "off road" fuel in your tank. They have a sniffer they can put in the exhaust and tell. The sulfur content is different.
