Time to stur the pot again. Since Armalite is bringing back the AR180 as the AR180B. The Ban comming up for reconsideration. If the playing field was level which would you want to have? OK I know there is a lot of past here. Use your imagination and your knowledge of combat weapons, we will leave the .308/7.62 out of the debate, what are your thoughts? Things that make you go Hummmmmm. [8D]

I hear the 180B has got the bugs out and is a pretty good weapon now. It is, or was, a pretty good value in terms of price, too. The Robinson Arms models aren't bad competitors either, but I believe they run closer to $1100.

I used to own an AR180 (Sterling, Preban)It was the second worst rifle I ever owned( #1 goes to the French Mas 49/56). Three in a row before jamming was the best I could do with any mag I had. NEVER AGAIN.[V][V][V]

The Colt (not clone) AR15 variants were higher quality weapons than the original Armalites, with more resilient plastics, better sights, better balance and vastly superior stock design. In their day, the Armalites were regarded as the poor cousin to the AR15, and this I think for good reason.

After finally getting the right (military) ammo, I like mine a lot. What was wrong with yours?

I looks like there is no one who belives that the AR18/180 is or could be a viable rifle or a good alternative to the M16 family of weapons. I guess the IRA and some old SWAT units were all wet. [:D]

I bought the new AR 180B last year, also own a Bushmaster AR-15, and tried the COLT M-16 in combat back in '68. The M-16 was junk and unreliable. The Bushmaster is a fine example of the AR-15 type of rifle. The new AR 180B seems to be a good rifle, if you like .223. It's gas system is better than the AR-15/M-16s, and I think just as robust(or lack there of, compared to M-14). After 500 rounds thru the AR 180B and the Bushmaster, The Bushmaster seems to be more accurate, but it has a terriable trigger compared to the AR 180B. The 180B is more sensitive to Magazines than the Bushmaster, but the 180B is several pounds lighter.
