Well, since the subject of the .45-70 came up, I'm curious, what kind of lever guns
do you like (the .45-70 is just one of many I like).

Why do you like your choices?

Before I forget I shot a Winchester 1882 Model 73, .32-20 lever action rifle.
It was a sweetheart round.

So, I'm looking to buy a Marlin 1894CL.[8D]

I am partial to Savage 1899's and also early Marlin square bolt lever guns.

I like the Savages because they have a unique style and mechanism. I like the old Marlins because the design is better and the asthetics beat the crap out of any Winchester lever gun starting with the 1894 on up to present.

Old Winchesters 1866, 1873, 1876 etc.. are sweeet, but 94's on up, do not appeal to me for some reason. The one exception is the Winchester Model 88. Could be because of the similarity to a Savage????

I completely agree with the addition of the Marlin 1893 .32-40 (my great grampa's rifle)

My dad has had a Winchester 1895 in 30-40 for 55 years or so. While I love shooting Dad's gun, I just like the look of a tube under the barrel. My personal favorite is the 1873. It just looks classy. On my budget, however, I'm pretty limited to what lever gun I can buy. If I could only have one, I'd get a Marlin Guide in 45-70.

I like the pre WWll M94 Win. in 30/30.Especaily the ones made in 1939.
The craftsmanship and machining on those rifles is amazing.
Not to mention the fact that i have one, in great condition, and i only paid $400 for it 3 years ago.[:D]

I like all of the John M. Browning patented Winchester lever-action rifles. Yes, all of the early Winchester toggle-link guns are cool (1866, 1873, and 1876), but for me, it all starts with the Model 1885, and then goes on through the 1886, 1887, 1892, 1894, and 1895.
