Do I have to use the address on the license as the ship to address?

Can I have it sent to my office instead of my house address which is on the license?

Fill out an application and send in $30. It does NOT require photo or fingerprints, if I remember right. Check the ATF website.

    It's easy.

Send in the application with the certificate of citizenship and $30 to the ATF, and sit back and wait.

You also need to send a copy of the application to the Sheriff or Chief of police. They don't need to approve it or anything, but the ATF requires you to send a copy to them letting them know you are applying for a C&R license.

That is all there is to it.

I keep hearing about the C&R. What does it allow you to do? Is it worth it? Are there any down sides to haveing one?

You can collect guns over 50 years old, or countless others on the list without needing to go through an FFL (unless state law requires). If you buy a lot of old guns, yes--$30 for 3 years. Downsides: none to my knowledge.

Go to this site and download the forms, fill them out, and send them in with a check for $30.00.

I mailed my application in on Oct. 19th. I'll let you know when I get the license.

The only known downside to a C&R is the increased strain it places on your wallet everytime the UPS truck pulls up to your house and the driver hands you a box packed full of Mosin-Nagants, old Lugers, P38s, M1 rifles, Mausers, Lee Enfields, old Colts and Winchesters or just about any other firearm you can name over 50 years old or on the BATFE list. Based on what it allows you to do the $30 C&R license represents a fantastic deal.

I am in the process of applying for a C&R too. The only thing I don't get is the governments logic. I can't use it to but a new .22 singleshot, but I can buy a semi-auto Garand. Ain't our country great?

Where is the conflict between the purchase of a brand new rifle and one which is 50 years old and considered to be a Curio, a relic, or of historical interest to collectors? Of course you could use the C&R to purchase any number of old Stevens .22 Crackshots or any other .22 single shots over 50 years of age. The license (and the logic behind it) is to aid collectors in advacing their hobby and not to allow for the blanket purchase of modern firearms since the standard Type 01 FFL exists for that purpose. You get to do quite a bit for $30.

I checked my bank account this morning and the ATF has cashed my check.

Now, if they will send the license to me that quick, I'd be real happy! (NO, I'm not gonna hold my breath.)

Added bonus is discounts at Midway and other suppliers. This alone will repay the $30.00.

Just wanted to add, that once you receive the license, make a bunch of photocopies. DO NOT SIGN THE ORIGINAL!
