One of the kids gave me a "Beer Can Chicken" holder. Didn't think too much about it and last night the wife says lets try it. She stuffed the can with all kinds of herbs added the beer, sprayed the chicken with olive oil and sprinkled garlic powder on it, put in grill at high for an hour and it was amazing! Crisp skin, moist meat and the flavor was great. We're obviously doing this again real soon. Just shocked the heck out of me how good it was.

it does sound interesting ! it says to spice the chix with dry rub then 1/2 can of your favorite beverage up the cavity .cook 1-1.5 hours . we usually cook whole birds on a large rotissre (holds 40 whole birds)but making small quanities is to much work . i thought of making a smaller oven but no time . maybe i can work my recipe into the beer can theroy .
anybody make beer can chicken before ? any war stories or recipes ?
i've never tried it before .

I take a can of beer and BBQ sauce of equal amounts and mix in a bowl.
fill can with mixture and insert in to bird
Use the rest for brushing on bird while cooking and whats left I use for dipping
I cook on gas grill, low heat for about an hour.
I also use a meat thermometer stuck in the top to make sure it gets thoroughly cooked.
DELICIOUS!!!!! Meat falls of the bone.
Man I'm getting hungry thinkin about it
Enjoy [^]
