Am I getting paranoid here?

I was the only nurse at the county jail. When I come back from
sick leave, everything in my office was moved. Including personal
items in my desk. The files had been combined, only half of them
aren't filed, they are just helter skelter in the drawers. (A
secretary is sopposed to work on them an hr. a day) Haven't seen
here do anything yet. The work she had before I went to the
hospital is still there. They know it too.
I've had comments like; "We're betting your surgery cost 34,000
...let us know when you get the bill."
They hired a new grad lpn for 10 hrs a week while I was gone.
We talked about it before I left, they said it was temporary,
I'd asked for these hours previously. (Will try and get my
hours later.)
I was working these hours overtime before to get the work load
done. They have increased my work, and decreased my hours.
Had my first anxiety episode ever...went to bed at 10;30 and
was up till 4;30...racing thoughts, could not get to sleep.
up at 7;00. Didn't sleep at all the next day, althou I tried.
To bed at 11;00 and woke up at 4am. Still thinking of the
mess at work.
They didn't want to pay 50 an hr. for a temporary, so it just
piled up. I want to keep my job. I have another surgery to
go through in a few weeks here and worry they want to get
rid of my rather than have another bill for their insurance.

Relax... if the work is piled up take it sloooooooooowwww. You only have 2 hands. Never mind what the others are thinking and look out for yourself. If your new surgery is in a few weeks they could lay you off or fire you but your insurance would still cover it usually if it is within 30 days or just pay the premium and continue the coverage. It is a pre existing case and your employer knows it. If it gets real bad at work just take a leave of absence till surgery.. you know.. I have a headache and go see your doc. Glad to hear your doing better.

Hey, glad to see you're back. I did a forum search yesterday to find out how ya been. Work, well a little paranoia is good but hang in there, they're probably just a bunch of goof off's that didn't do nothing and now want to dump it on you since you're back.

Thamks you guys. I can't believe how much better my day was just
having a more positive outlook. I talked to my Dr.'s Secretary
and she said it's illegal to fire you when your going through
a serious illness. I guess these guys are just making dumb
comments and not thinking. I have been more emotional lately.
Dr. says its similiar to a post traumatic stress after having
this kind of surgery. I still don't have my old get up and
go yet. I have several good friends at work who have been
wonderfully supportive to me. I miss them when their off.
Two came back from being on cruiser training lately. I've
always been a perfectionist. Type A personality. Intense.
    Redhead.
One of the inmates commented he couldn't believe I was transporting
inmates through the hall and not wearing a radio. I laughed and
told him I was a fast runner. If I would have been on my toes
I should have smiled and said I had a black belt in Tai Quan Do
and could kick the snot out of a pile of them if need be. [:D][:D][:D]

mouse- this may be the 25 year old single man who's in the navy in me speaking- but my advice is to spend the weekend getting drunk.

It takes a while to get your "get up and go" back, after what you have been through. Just take it easy, one day at a time. You can only do so much.
Try to leave work, AT WORK.

Work never goes away. It'll be there when you get to it. And yes if they fire you or anything like that you can sue for big bucks. A lot more than sugery costs. As a matter of fact they can't even make your job more difficult for you to try and get you to quit. You are in a pretty good position to be a little demanding. Ask anyone with something smart to say to please put it in writing or if they wouldn't mind to speak into the mic. Take care of yourself first and worry about the other stuff some other time.
