Chinese AK 47S?

Came into the pawn shop for sale today with a nice custom case that held the rifle and three 30 round mags. Looks like new. Has a machined reciever and is a lot heavier than the ugly,crude Romanian AK.I could probably get it for around $800-$850. Is that good?

    More info needed. Polytech, I assume? Legend? Have the original book? Not a reworked Norinco sporter, right?

    My opinion, at this time, it is hard to say what the impact the lifting of the AWB will have on the pre-'89 ban Chicom rifles. Yes,m they will always be collector's items, BUT...

    Those who just want an assault style AK47 have many, many other options over buying the original deal right now. A worked over MAK-90 with proper US made parts installed, for example, or one of the most recent AK's offered with all the assault bells and whistles.

    People who just want an AK with all the goodies reduces the number of people willing to pay for the "real deal" chicom AK. My own opinion, that will affect price.

    It is a Poly Tech. Kind of redish brown stocks. No folder or anything special.Just a real well made super clean rifle.

    would have been a good price 6 months ago, now, it's hard to say...

    I guess I'll put it on long term layaway and if the prices drop or I find a better deal I'll not loose out.

    $850 is a good deal, especially if the mags are PolyTech (chrome followers). Heck, I'd buy it myself.

    My books say 1000-1100, but that was before the ban ended. Ofcourse the import ban will never end and that is the one keeping these things out right?

    You have the 1989 import ban working against you as well as at least two bans on the importation of any ChiCom firearms. You will never see these imported again and if you really want an example for your collection I'd say the price is very fair.

    The chrome follower mags are cheap. I just bought 25 for $5.95 each still in the wrappper. Not a stain on them.

    Make sure it's a Polytech, It will say 386 on it. I have seen some showing up that are orignal stocks on cheap recivers.

    Preban PolyTech mags for $6? Where? At last check, they were $20-25 each.

    It was definitely a milled reciever. I guess I'll go ahead and get it since they owe me on a job which I will finish today and I have lots of work lined up now. That tornado turned out to be a good thing. Thanks guys.
