Non-compliance. Who'd have thought it could be so easy. Just say no!
The insane Canadian gun registry program is dead in the water. An underestimated 300,000 Canadians simply refused to register an underestimated 1.5 million guns. The government, has decided to extend the deadline for registration rather than try to start prosecuting. The district prosecutors have said that they aren't going to prosecute anyway, because the government's data base is full of holes. Large numbers of people who registered have been lost from the data base and have been asked to re-register. No-one is re-registering. The program that was originally supposed to cost the Canadian people $2,000,000 is quickly reaching the billion dollar mark. It is falling apart at the seams.
Our government can't seem to prosecute more than 1-2 percent of the firearms cases as it is. Imagine if a million gun owners decided to no longer voluntarily comply with the ridiculous laws we already have and simply ignore any new ones. Even a mere 100,000 "violators" would cause such a log jam in the system it would become impotent. "Full of sound and fury signifying nothing."-WS
Why doesn't the NRA organize a million gun owner march on the capital like the million moms and the million blackman marches? Hand over a petition to recind the laws that have made certain aspects of our hobby/passion illegal or start trying to prosecute us and watch the courts come to a screeching halt. Better yet we'll all quit working and go on the dole then spend our welfare checks on guns and ammo.

    BigDaddy,
Because then the head honchos of the NRA would be out of a multi-million-dollar a year job?

    Just a guess.

Because most gunowners have responsibilities and have to work for a living! we can't afford to take off to dc in the middle of the week.

"...The district prosecutors have said that they aren't going to prosecute..." close but noit quite accurate. It was the Provincial Premiers who said thids. Same as a State Governor saying it. Despite this, the Feds have said no they won't scrape the Registry. There is no extension of the deadline past June 30. Just no charges laid. They government has no idea how many firearms there are in Canada. Then they lie about everything connected to it. They keep saying it's working, all the while making up the numbers.
You're right though. The best way to fight this crap is complete and utter non-compliance. Mind you, you do need some kind of a legal fee support group. If one guy gets charged it'll cost him everything he has to challenge the laws. Is the NRA going to be there to support a guy who has said 'bite me' to the more stupid laws?

Thanks for the clarification. I thought the Provicial Premier was like a State A.G. here. David Austin of the Canadian Firearms Center[sounds like a shooting club]says,"In terms of an individual who is outside the system, we'd recommend that they immediately apply". How do you say"BITE ME DAVE" in Canadian?
