Boy am I on a roll or what? I tell Kimber that my gun shoots 6-8 inches low at twenty five yards and the guy tells me I'm not aiming right.Huh? I told him in order to hit the ten ring I had to cover the target with the muzzle putting the sights at the top of the target effectively blinding me to the target and if it were moving who'd know? He says its cause they are night sights and I don't know how to use them. Yes, I must have lost the ability to aim a 1911 when I fell off of the turnip truck today ya bleeping idiot.

Because sometimes people sometimes abbreviate my handle, at first I thought you were accusing me!

Naw,Even if you did, I can live with being called stupid. But telling me I can't shoot straight is down right insulting.

Apparently I jumped the gun, haha,a little bit. I just spent some time in the orchard and put a couple hundred rounds through it. Every group got a little higher and tighter. Now it is just a hair low at twenty yards. A few hundred more rounds and I bet it will be as good as the old Colt or Remington Rand. Thank God! I thought I'd just wasted a wad of cash.

Can't aim right my eye!!! Cleaned it and fired another 100 rounds. Last 30 or so in a two inch hole. Next guy that tells me I ain't aiming it right I'm gonna put an apple on his head and say"let's find out".[}:)][:D]They should have just said to break it in some first.I told him I just got it and shot less than fifty rounds.Well all is right with the world again. Guess I'm a Kimber convert.

The experience with my TLE (fixed night sites) is that when I aimed (my sight picture-front and rear are centered and flat across on top) like I "normally" do the Kimber shot low left about 5+ inches. I had to learn how to aim this gun, and for that reason will NEVER buy another fixed sighted firearm. With the TLE I have to put the top of the front dot even with the top of the rear sight, which (in my sight picture) has the top of the front site sticking up higher than the rear. It really feels like I'm aiming high right. I don't like it, but now at 25yds it averages about 3 MOA centered. I guess what I'm saying is if someone told me I don't know how to aim I would have responded worse than you. But I experienced it myself and nobody (0for4) who shot it got close to the center.

The custom shop guy told me they had a shorter night sight front blade that they would put on at no cost if I sent the slide in.2-3 days and its back. Will lower point of aim 4" at twenty five yards. I guess I won't need it now, but you might want to give them a call. In the begining I had to do much the same thing as you described, but now I can line up the dots and put the center dot where I want the shot to go instead of just under it as I do with my Colt. I guess I'm just used to military spec where the shot is 4-5" above the sight picture.Much easier to keep track and hit a moving target in my opinion with the mil spec sights.

What's it set at now? I can't believe that the factory would set any pistol for 100 yards. I'm guessing that is what a 4" drop would be for 25 yards.

Thats what the man said.I told him I was shooting at twenty five yards and he said the shorter sight would drop my point 4". Now keep in mind this is the same guy that said I wasn't aiming right.[?]

bigdaddyjunior--Which model did you purchase? It would have been funny if the guy asked, "Did you follow the proper barrel break-in procedures?"[}:)][:D]

    bdj,

I had a new Sig that shot about 4-5 inches to the left so I told my firearms instructor. He said I was milking the gun and told me what I was doing wrong. I tried his suggestions and it still shot to the left. I convinced him to shoot it and he hit about 4 inches to the left. I put it back in the safe and took it out every couple of weeks and shot it and after about 400 rounds it shot right where it was supposed to. I think it just nedded to be broken in. Now it shoots just fine and after about 3000 rounds it shoots SMOOTH. I know how you feel and "been there, done that". Good luck and enjoy your Kimber.

He Dog, a turnip truck is much the same as a 'tater truck 'cept its full of turnips instead of 'taters.[:)]If you fall off of a tater truck everyone will ask if you are all right. If you fall off of a turnip truck everyone will laugh at you and say you can't shoot straight .

Well heck, bigdaddy, where I grew up folks grew turnips and taters in the garden, but they were not cash crops. I have seen corn trucks, soy bean trucks, wheat trucks, oat trucks and a strawberry truck or two, and I suppose they are about the same. I am guessing it has been a very long time since you fell off of any truck.
