This was the answer to a question Toolbabe asked me the other morning. When we got up the other morning there was pea soup fog. You could not see 50ft. So I decided to drive Toolbrat to School. Its some what on my way to the job Toolbabe and I were working on.
We were going down a two lane country road. When all the sudden there was a semi stoped in the road. With the fog you could not see it untill you were right on it. A DOT cop had stoped a log truck and was weighing it. Log trailers are not knowen for there lighting. As I came on it. The officer motioned me by. Then he gave me a friendly wave. So as I drove past Toolbabe said why is he doing that. I said because its a truck and hes a *******.
For the life of me I can see no reason why that truck had to be weighed right in the middle of a two lane country road in pea soup fog. Oh the DOT cop had his car pulled up beside the truck so he would not have to carrey the scales and you could not see it.
Also they were only 2 miles from the saw mill. There was plenty of room outside the Mill where he could have done this. There was even a scale at the Mill.
This kind of reckless behavior just makes me sick.
I wanted to post this sooner but I thought I had better cool off first.

Sounds like another case of DOT and their infinite wisdom strikes again.

Tools, we drivers know the motivation behind the DOT and what they do. BUT they get support from the nontrucking part of this country the same way anitgunners get support, from the media.

Truck inspections are motivated by $$$$$, not safety but as long as Barbara Walters tells a good story the rest of the country will continue to say "Get those nasty truckers!"

Tools, would you like to help me with a post describing EXACTLY what goes on during an inspection of the truck and driver and EXACTLY what is accomplished during the inspections? I bet alot of folks would scream, "They would never do that to me!!" but since we are CDL holders we are blamed for all the bad things on the highways and no matter what when someone in a car screws up the trucker is at fault.

Politicians are like diapers, every so often you need to change them, for obvious reasons.

I sat in a resteraunt and watched those clowns do everything to this poor fellow and his rig, but a rectal exam. Lasted over an hour and blocked one and a half lanes of the main highway through town. I asked the trucker what was going on and he told me they were training a new DOT guy and he was the lucky winner!!! He wasn't mad or anything. Like he expected insanity to rule. I could not do that.
