Toolbabe- I can still remember when I finally had a place of my own,er, space of my own (a room in the barracks) and I ate myself stupid on Chef Boyardee/Little Debbie a bunch of other crap. Took about 3 weeks ([xx(]) but I finally called Mom and asked for ANYTHING homemade.

Heh, I lived on Ramen noodles my first year of college, but not because I can't cook. You just can't beat the price: 7 cents per meal if you catch them on clearance at Sam's or wally world. Now, two years later, I go home EVERY chance I get. Fifty miles is nothing for a home-cooked meal from mom [:D]

I have always appreciated my mom's cooking. And I lived in the dorms my freshman year at college. I often found myself calling to see what mom had made. But she would always set some aside in the freezer for me, and on the weekends they would bring it to me. And this year I am getting an apartment, and I have gathered a "cook book" of all my favorite things from my mom and my Nanna. I'll be cooking for myself and I am sick of Ramen noodles and mac & cheese. She'll learn, she'll be sorry if she doesn't!

Hey I am in my 40s and I still love the way my Grand Mother can cook turtle or fried chicken! Wished my ol lady could cook those 2 things like her! When my 16 year old son heads to service as he plans, I wonder what he is going to do when he wants mommmas Lasagna!

Funny thing is, my wife is a good cook, but cooks most the same meals all the time, mostly cause I try to stay with low fat/cholesterol foods. Man is it boring. I tell her I want something different, that I'm tired of the same old thing. She just looks at me and says 'You gripe if I cook what you arent suppose to be eating, and gripe if I dont, take what you get or cook your own'. Is that love or what?[;)]

Sauce in a jar is a good place to start. After you've browned the meat, onions, green peppers(bell peppers to you foreigners), garlic(real, no powders) mushrooms and added the fresh herbs, dump in the tomato sauce. Made it last week while camping and was offered something called a 'lap dance' by one of the ladies who wanted to come home with me.

There is no sauce like moms sauce that takes 3 days to cook. Moms cooking will always be the best and I have always felt that way.
