Fairfax County Virginia Police were targeted by a former mental patient yesterday, May 8th, after earlier being served a summons for an unnamed offense.

Killed was a 40 yr old female detective and in very critical condition is a 23 yr vet officer. Also, one other officer was wounded as well. The suspect supposedly killed in the subsequent shoot-out.

Gen info is the shooter hi-jacked a car, went to the police station and as shift change occured began firing with a semi-auto rifle and maybe one of more of the 5 pistols found. Over 70 rds fired.

Shooter was 18-20 yr old MALE, a Gothic style dresser and always talking about killing, according to former high school friends.

May God have mercy on the soul of the deceased Detective.

(Hope this clears up the confusion)

i think dogman is confused like me....apparently the police detective was a female but from your post it sounds like the shooter was too. was the shooter a male or female ?

Sorry to have mislead. But, my reputation is well known on this board for the many years I've been posting. Additionally, having been a former LEO I took umbridg at the question.

    Movin' on however....

Here's the quote that's confusing everyone:

Ok, the detective was a female, but I haven't heard if the shooter was or not.

Apparently he was using an AK47, of which he had 2 (plus a granade was found at his house, not sure if it was live).

The anti-gun nuts are going to have a field day with this one. VA is one of the easiest states to get a firearm.

I almost got stuck in the traffic generated by this, I left a little early yesterday.

It is interesting to note that watching the A & E cable programs about violent crime they say that most of these nuts are known to their friends. Lifetime friends that listen to them brag about wanting to kill people, but laughing it off as simply a macho rant.
In fact it is many times their long time friends that turn them in.

I know that doesn't apply in this case but I will bet authorities will find out that this nuts friends knew that he had a couple of loose wires upstairs. Wish we could find a way to get these people help before the lid blows off! It sure hurts our image as gunowners.

Take no offense... just wanted to be sure we were on the same page. Former LEO here, too, guy. K-9 and SRT. Thanks for the edit. I'll include her family and the other officer in my prayers.

Yeah she was a friend of my family :( My 1/2 sister and her kids are devastated by this (the kids played together alot apparently) My sister was in near hysterics when she called my dad and my grand-ma :(

A damn shame. I was watching it on the news yesterday hoping that my folks didnt know any of the people involved. I have a friend in the FCPD and was praying for him too. Havent talked to him in awhile I'll have to get ahold of him and see whats up.

Here's hoping the Goth P.O.S. rots in hell. From the report I read, the detective went down fighting. May God rest her soul.[V]
