FFL Gun Purchase Question Virginia

To anyone who may be a Virginia FFL or know the answer to this. I was in Virginia last week with my wife visiting friends. As usual I try to check out the local gunshops. I buy a lot of guns in NY and New England so I am used to the craziness. Now I just say tell me what you need me to do, no sense in arguing or rehashing how stupid state laws can be. So I am in a gunshop in Northern Virginia and find a rifle to purchase. I tell them that I am an FFL which makes it easy, no 4473 ect., just an exchange of paperwork. I give them a copy of my FFL which I sign in front of them and my drivers license. He becomes confused because my name is not on the FFL. I explain that as I am a LLC the corporation name is on the FFL not my personal name as I am a member of the corporation. I then give them a copy of my sales tax license which has my corporation name and my name. These two along with my license clearly show that I am the holder of the FFL. He goes into the back room to make a call. After about 15 minutes he comes back and tells me that he can't hand the gun to me but can ship it to the address on the FFL, OR I can purchase the gun as an individual and walk out with it. OK, you win I'll just fill out the 4473. They were really very nice and were willing to ship the gun at no cost. I asked how they could make money on the gun with free shipping and he told me we can't we will loose money. Next time I am in the area I will go back.

It amazes me on how some people can run a shop for many years but still don't really know the laws and are afraid they may make a mistake
It would seem to me the laws are too damn complex. An ordinary citizen should be able to understand any regulation he is required to comply with. A good place for the Trump administration to start is to eliminate about 90% of our laws, and re-write the rest in plain English, as some insurance companies have begun to do.
