Member Posts: 3,594
I just picked up a Rem. 700 in 6mm Rem.Although i owned one about 25 years ago,and reloaded for it,there have been many changes in powder and bullets since then. Can anyone reccomend some good powder/bullet combinations to try for deer and also for varmints. Thanks.

speer 70 gr. spsx bullet/39.5 gr. 4064/cci 200 primer. this combination produced 3/8 in. grouping at 225 yards. also try 41.0 grain of 4064.
sierra 85 gr. hpbt/43.0 gr. 4350/cci 200 primer. this is my best groundhog load.
nosler 75 gr. hp/46.0 gr. accurate 4350/cci 200 primer. this was the best load for my old rem bdl
the above loads are for groundhog hunting and benchrest shooting. not for large game. if your going to hunt large game, utilize the speer 105 grain bullets or the more readily available 100 grainers.
to be honest, i would be hesitant to shoot a large deer beyond 150-200 yards. hope this helps...let me know how it turns out!![;)]
