Those were wild days in Germany, having lost the Great War, there were incessant battles in the streets between communists and the other factions. Hitler was getting cranked up, and his Brown Shirts were involved in numerous street fights against communists.
Russia had just gone commie, so the question was, who was next?
Hitler managed to take over in 1933, I wouldn't have wanted to be a German communist after that.
Photojournalist during the civil war used to stage photos as well.
Those H-Ds have pedals. Is that instead of a clutch?
Think Moped, you had to pedal like hell to get it started. Early ones had a leather belt drive.
When my Grampa was courting Gramma, that's what he had to get to the other side of the county to see her. He said it never failed, the belt would always jump off right at the end of the driveway to the ranch with big mean cattle dogs.
He would have to scramble to get it back on, and then pedal for all he was worth before the dogs made it to the road.
