Who here has had knee surgery with microfracture? I am about 8 weeks out post op and still having problems with it, what have been your results? See the doc on Wed to see if I can go to weight bearing status.

One of the posts brought this to mind, plus I just had both injected with cordazone earlier today. Anyone heard of a "roster comb" injection to prolong knee replacement? Any input would be appreciated.

Finally got to the point I needed the other knee replaced.

Out of the hospital in one day. Last time was 3 days.
Seems to be going great. Easier than the other knee.

Therapy coming out to house today for first session.
It's my right knee so can't drive for a while.

That doesn't make me feel good. I am having knee surgery & the doctor wanted me to get a clearance from a heart doctor first.
I just finally got that clearance about three hours ago.
Now I have to wait for the appointment for the surgery.

What type of surgery are you getting? Mine was to fix some problems that happened in a fight, they found extra damage they didnt expect and had to do the microfracture. Microfracture is where they drill holes in areas that dont have any meniscus or cartiledge to grow scar tissue, which is better than raw bone they say anyways. Its been interesting to say the least, I have good range of motion just still painful and swollen.

I don't know the name of it but the doctor claims it will be a simple outpatient peocedure. All I did was kneel down for about ten minutes to change the air filter on my bike & my knee has been hurting for the last seven months.
If it's so simple I have to wonder why they needed a clearance from a heart doctor but at least he finally gave me a green light. He wanted a stess test & normally that would mean a treadmill but because of the knee they had to do a much more complicated test. Then the doctor took two weeks off for Christmas & it took another two weeks for me to see him. They are really dragging this thing out.
It's been over two months since I first went to my doctor & I still don't have the appointment for the surgery.

Never simple, hopefully just some trimming up, Did you get an MRI?
Good luck with it, I can commiserate with you.

I was the guinea pig for that surgery back in the 80's. The video of my surgery is still used for classroom training. Unfortunately I went back to work too soon, and tore it all up again. Another first time experimental surgery and video fixed it. I should be getting royalties on these movies![:D]
It works, but seems like forever to heal. The other problem is the "scar" tissue cartilage that results, gets a little carried away and grows nodules that can break off and become "floaters". They can get stuck in the joint and lock it up, or attach somewhere else in the joint and continue to grow. The only way to get them out and stop the joint from locking up, is another scope surgery to vacuum them out.

Knee replacement oct 19th...I wish they had tried that Micro fracture tecnique first cuz this isn't working out. I have to have a manipulation and I have to get cleared by the cardiologist again. Last time it took two months to get that done.

Yes I had an MRI quite some time ago. That was when the doctor decided it needed surgery instead of a cortisone shot.
I REALLY needed those pictures[xx(]. Like I wasn't worried enough.

    ACL with microfracture in 1998.
Drilled three holes and removed the shreded cartilage.
    This was out patient surgery.
About a month before I could walk normally. [;)]

Scott, did your doc describe this procedure to you? In detail?
And is it going to be awake, or knocked out? Because you "do not" want to do this with a local anesthetic.
And make sure the heavy duty painkiller prescription is filled before you have it done.
