A buddy of mine can't find any .44 Win Mag Ammo locally where he lives, (Moses Lake WA) and I can't seem to locate any here on GB.

Geez Matt......I don't remember a gun shop that DOESN'T carry it.
Any gun shows in that area anytime soon? There's always a load of it at gun shows.

Shouldn't that read .44 Mag by Winchester? There's a .45 Win Mag but no .44 Win Mag.

Here is the only reference to .44 Win. Mag. I found. I hope you have better luck than I did reading it. It looks like it is in German or another Germanic language...maybe someone here knows the language.

He keeps insisting he needs .44 Win. Mag, but I'm pretty sure that he needs plain ole' .44 Mag ammo.

This buddy of mine is an experianced shooter, just not real attentive to minor details I guess.[:I] (Like chambering the correct round for the firearm he's holding....[:p][:o)])

The caliber didn't sound exactly right to me, but I was willing to trust his info.

I made a simular mistake once, a long time ago when I got my first 1911- I bought some .45 Auto-Rim instead of .45ACP......sort of a spendy mistake[:I].

Hey Matt- About 1980, Winchester produced a 45Win Mag that was developed for the Wildey Semi Auto pistol. The chambering was also available in Thompson Contender BBls,maybe others.Could that be it?What kind of gun is it?I've never heard of a 44WinMag-Bob

I didn't bother with this thread because I didn't have an answer, but finally decided to check in and see if by some error the needed ammo was really my favorite LAR Grizzly pistol cartridge, the .45 Win Mag. I see we STILL don't know for sure. Ah, well....

Hangfire- Have a cigar on me! "45Win Mag that was developed for the Wildey Semi Auto pistol"

I finally got over to his place Friday Morning, and sure enough, it's a Wildey ([:D][8D]) and chambered in .45 Win Mag......

Thanks guys! Now back to the original question- Availibility & Prices?

Matt-Can't help you with the ammo. You might want to make a new post with the correct designation.I'm sure many passed by since they didn't recognize the caliber. Good Luck-Bob
