Went down today and picked up my tags for deer, bear, and cougar and he asks me "is this modern or muzzle loader" and I think about the .45 cal CVA that I'm getting Mrs. Blue and tell him I would like both.
He says "You can't have both".
I says "Why not?"
He says "You gotta choose one or the other."
I'm thinkin - I'm not a morron - I understood that when he told me the first time.
I says "Why can't I have both?"
He says "Why should you be able to go out for both seasons?" "I shoot muzzle loaders and we have a season for that - why should you get an extended season?"
I says "Well I got a muzzle loader AND a modern firearm - what do you and the State care if I choose when and how I get a deer this year?"
He said "You gotta choose one or the other now."
I says "I work all kinda hours and mostly whenever they want, when we have a job going - and I usually don't know week to week when the refinery is going to change the contractors schedules - it happens all the time. So, I don't know if I'll even be able to go hunting much less which season, but I'm willing to pay for both - so's I can get a deer this year."
He said "You gotta choose one or the other."
I mumbled G%@$# D^$#%@ Modern. We go up to pay and I said "look If I want to just get my bear and cougar then wait for deer can I do that?"
He says "Yeah - maybe next year - I already procesed these."[V][:(!]

Now I feel pissed - can't there be a situation where you purchase both here in WA - or how do you guys feel - Am I the morron??????

Looks like they decided to do that to cut down on crowding in the woods.

What can you do, there are more humans alive right now on Earth than have ever lived. They need someway to limit the hunters in the woods I guess nowadays. I'd take the Muzzle loader, no one else will be in the woods.

It might depend on the deer population. In Kansas your doe tags are good in all seasons (not positive about bow season) using appropriate weapons. The best part is that if you don't get a deer in your regular season, they have a special season in January where ALL tags turn to doe-only tags so you have additional time.
I'm with Nitrouz, I greatly prefer muzzleloader season because there's rarely any hunters out there then. If my other hunting buddy's hunted muzzleloader season then I'd likely stop hunting firearms season. That season, for me anyway, is more about the friends than the deer.

BlueTic - nobody said it was easy getting tags for animals anymore.

Have you tried out the 45 yet? Mine showed up on the doorstep Wednesday - it's too pretty for me to sell unfortunately (only thing to do with it is clean up the brass).

Let me know how yours works out and hope to see you and the wife again next year.

You didn't say if you went to the local Sporting Goods store to buy, or your Dept. of Fish and Game. Call your Dept. of Fish and Game, they might have a different answer for your question, that is if you went to a Sporting Goods Store. Regards Dave
