Translated the headstamp is "Remington-UMC .45 Automatic Pistol, Colt" . . . . Resembles a Hollifield Dotter (which was made in .45 ACP) although that would be a thinner, solid, rod projecting out. It's definitely not an OKH round because they only worked with large capacity rifle cases.

    Well it won't work in a 1911 ... slight mag/feed problem

Don't think it would chamber in one of the 45 APC revolvers either, might squeek by, but I don't think so.

Could be fired from a single action, Contender or whatever ... but I can't see any real accuracy or purpose.

Then again maybe it is just a round converted to a whistle so you have an alternative to blowing you head off [:D]

You have me mystified, and I can't wait till your ready to fess up.

I know........I know........ Its an experimental handgun version of the first atomic bomb. When the rod is forced through the protective film barrier it causes a critical mass that causes the target to disenagrate.

    Yield, about 1 kilo TNT.[:D][:D]

Maybe the APC means armor piercing cartridge? Perhaps there was to be a hardened steel insert in the forward part.

Since the brass in that configuration is not apt to penetrate, I would think some type of whisling signal cartridge.

I'll try one more, given their age. Anti-bandit tire perforators. Used to flatten tires on getaway vehicles in the 20's and 30's

They had lots of weird stuff back then.
