Bear and Wolverine Pelts

I was at the local auction last weekend, here in Kansas and I won a bear and a wolverine pelt. They are originally from Alaska, and the woman whose estate it was, said they got them in the 1970's. I went to *bay to sell them, but it is not allowed. There is little info, and conflicting opinions when I goggled this topic. It seems to be okay to sell wolverine pelts, but not bears. The local taxidermist was not interested. Anyone know where/how I can sell these?

Flee market/swap meets. You could also try trapper rendezvous. Just make sure you follow all state and federal laws.

Is 'trapper rendezvous' a web site?

I will try listing on GunBroker, too.

    Thanks.

Try selling them at a local auction. Isn't that where they were sold last? Just a thought.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Not in Kansas [:)] If you want a bargain, come here to the auction. If you're a seller, don't count on making enough for a taxi to deposit your money in the bank, you'll be walking to the free soup kitchen... :)

Except for guns, they always get a good price at the auction.

Well, since it appears to be your best opportunity for re-sale, it sounds like you overpaid. Not such a bargain after all, eh?

My black bear rug is 6'x6'. Live weight was about 400 lbs. So, I'm thinking that you are correct. Color phase black bear and not very large, either.

Would you call this one a "rug" or a "pelt"? Here's the other side:

Looks like a bear rug to me but no reason you couldn't put it up on a wall.

The claws are fine, but there's some "cracks" in the hide. It was at an estate sale in Eastern Kansas, and they originally got it in Alaska, they must have gotten it made into a rug in Colorado.

I don't know about the wolverine. But in CA, I guess it's illegal to sell the bear pelt, don't know why. And flea-bay is based out of californica, so no bear. It's something they started doing a couple years ago.

You can't sell old-time caps (for cap pistols) on Fee-bay, or anything with a swastika in it (unless it satisfies certain chronological and political requirements).
