Someone named David writing this post bought a gun and the seller wanted a USPS money order.

They were not set up to take debit or credit cards.

So i went to the post office got the money order and filled it out. I went to through the other piece of the money order away but there was not a trash can so i put it in my pocket.

Later that night i emptied my pockets into a bowl i keep my keys, knife, gun and everything else in. I stuck the paper in the bowl also.

About 5 days later i get a call saying that i sent the wrong part of the money order. I was really scared because all i could remember was trying to through the money order away and i was not home so i could not look for the money part.

I got lucky because i was going to throw that away at the post office but they did not have a trash can inside where you buy money orders. The trash cans are in the outer part my the mail boxes.

I got really lucky. That was my first money order. LOL

When I started using GB to buy what I could not find locally, I did not understand what the fascination was with postal money orders. My local post office did not have enough cash on hand to cash any of the money orders I tried to cash. Also the limitation on amount was a problem.
I just bought a revolver and sent a cashiers check from a well known national bank. The dealer took the check to their bank and they refused to take the check.

    Go figure.

Always keep your receipt, if your money order gets lost or stolen, you can get it replaced only if you have the receipt. And things do get lost in the mail, not often, but usually when they do it's a money order...

I've always just sent a cashiers check or money order from my bank. One seller questioned why it wasn't a "Postal" money order, and I said, hold the item until mine clears. He was fine with that. In fact, if I remember correctly he sent the item right out.
