I asked the mechanic if he did alright and kept up with the pace. He just looked at me and said, what the hell did you feed that kid. I had a hard time keeping up with him. He is one hard worker and very smart.[:)] Really made me feel good coming from someone that I respect and admire. This guy pulls no punches and is not afraid to say if he wasn't up to snuff. Chris came home and went right to the gym. He said it was great to finally have a real job where he can feel like he is doing something. Great day and one proud papa. Hope he keeps it up. Oakie

great for both of you Oakie
I would say the acorn did not fall from the tree [:D]
It is a great feeling to see our sons grow up and become men.
I still remember as a teenager coming home from my first real job, in a warehouse. I was hot, tired, FILTHY, and feeling pretty darned good about myself. A REAL job and a REAL paycheck that I EARNED. [:D] Every kid needs that experience. [:D]
I remember that feeling also. Had it twice. First time really busting my hump was doing farm work. Bone tired and feeling like I earned what I got paid.
Had it again when I got my first non-farm job. Got a job as a piano mover and repair technician. Learned on the job and got paid piecework. Got paid $5 per piano picked up and brought back to the shop plus $1/hr windshield time. The truck held 6 pianos and some saturdays we would get it filled twice. $60 plus $8 was good money for a HS student in the 70's.
I remember when I started working full time using a part of my first paycheck to take my mother out to dinner. It really felt great to pay the check with money I'd earned myself.
Obviously the young Man was raised right.
Congratulations to you and your boy,
Ed
